Reston Wine Experience!
I’ve been a big fan of the Lake Anne Brew House since it initially opened (it’s awesome, try the Nitro Iced Coffee and a burrito at the farmers’ market on Saturday!), and have been patiently tracking the construction progress of the new Lake Anne Coffee House. I was pleasantly surprised when they opened recently. Not only is the coffee delicious, but they decided to open a Wine Bar upstairs!
I must say, they really did a great job with this place. I spent the afternoon there, starting with a caramel latte and moving upstairs for happy hour at the wine bar.
If you’re looking for a low key night out in Reston – the service (Kelsey in particular!), ambience, wine, and the food offerings are exceptional. It’s very exciting to have a new option located on Lake Anne in Reston, it’s truly an escape from DC or even Reston Town Center. But be sure to get there early (like around 4pm) because it fills up quickly on a Friday night.
The happy hour red option was pretty delicious. But be sure to try the 2015 Gauchezco Estate Malbec. It’s full-bodied, jammy, and will blow you away (and it’s only $8 a glass!).
The food was out of this world. The special of the night was a Bacon Wrapped Swordfish, it was outstanding. If Oysters are your thing, they also have raw Japanese oysters that I’ve heard are pretty wonderful as well.
I particularly enjoyed the fact that this is truly a family business, the vibe of this place really projects a sense of “home” and makes you want to stick around for hours (as I write this, I’ve been here for like 3.5 hours!). I had the pleasure of meeting the owner, Eve Thompson, who explained that the chef is their daughter. I can’t emphasize enough, try the food and pair it with one of their wines, you’ll love it.
This might be my new hang out. 5/5.
